Early Autumn?

It was only 21c in Adelaide today, which is very, very weird for the middle of February. Most years, around about this time, we swelter through our annual 40+ Celsius heatwave for a week or two, but so far (fingers crossed) this seems to have passed us by. I'm not complaining; it's lovely weather, and absolutely perfect for gardens provided we water diligently. I am wondering if Autumn is here early this year - some of the trees in the main street are starting to blush already. Autumn is my favourite season, and if it turns into an Indian Summer that might be quite nice, so long as it rains, (please, Huey!)

The veggie patch is doing beautifully for us at the moment and we are able to make complete pasta sauces or ratatouille with our harvests now! We got this whole entire box of veg the other day in a quick whip around the garden (for the record we have: overgrown spring onions, loads of baby corn, two different eggplants, some pale green capsicums, three different zucchinis, yellow and green beans, Desiree potatoes, and the inevitable tomatoes).

And on the home front? The kitchen is starting to look like it might be finished in the near future! We need the electrician and plumber to make another visit to hook everything up and attach some power points and our pendant cords to the ceiling (we've tacked them up just to see what they look like). We also need to make a decision on the splashback. We do have some tiles we like but are looking to see if there is a more economical option out there (probably not, but best to check!) And we need architraves and skirting boards. And to put on the door and drawer handles. And to put on another door or two (they were up, but the boys wanted to use different hinges so off they came). But apart from all that, it's almost done.

And you might notice that the top left unit has changed? That's because I'm a woman and I'm entitled to change my mind. Originally I wanted book shelves down both the left and right hand sides of the top cupboards to the bench. I got vetoed on the right hand side shelves and I can't even remember why, but we kept them on the left side. I didn't like it, I prefer symmetry and, actually, we all thought the same. So out came the power saw and the bottom was lopped off and I think it looks much better this way.

We need rain too - we have had very little in the past 6 weeks and the plants are beginning to look a bit sick - well those I haven't watered are anyway. Your kitchen looks fabulous - I would love a new kitchen with lots of nice work surfaces...perhaps when I go back to work....
